Congratulations VA!!!
Virginia passed their redistricting referendum by a narrow 2% vote.
This created much partisan divide which is good – NO ONE should be for partisan gerrymandering. But, as we have seen after the Roberts Court decimated the Voting Rights Act – the GOP will do ANYTHING to stay in power.
When we get past this moment in time, let’s ALL get on the same page: FAIR maps that represent non-partisan, fair voting representation.
We’ll have to redraw maps so that we can add districts to every state so we can expand Congress and get better representation than one member to 700,000 constituents.
State of Redisticting
Republicans have potentially gained 13 more seats in Congress — 5 in Texas, 1 in Missouri, 1 in Louisiana, 2 in Ohio, and 1 in North Carolina. They could add 3 more seats to their tally after Florida takes up redistricting in a special session this month.
Democrats have potentially gained a total of 10 seats — 5 in California and 1 in Utah. They could be up by 4 more seats in Virginia if voters greenlight a redistricting referendum this month.

Canvass in PA with Ground Truth
Republican Representative Scott Perry, the former chairman of the ultraconservative Freedom Caucus who played a lead role in seeking to overturn the 2020 election, is fighting to defend his seat in a central Pennsylvania district that has shifted toward the center. He faces Janelle Stelson, a popular TV anchor in the area who last year changed her party affiliation from Republican to Democrat and is running as a centrist. In 2024 Perry won by just 5,00 votes.
Swing Left has identified this as a prime area to implement their Ground Truth program. Efforts will be mainly focused in York and Carlisle, about 90 minutes from NW DC. We’ll be carpooling up on

Making connections in North Carolina is particularly important – they have state races, Congressional races, and a US Senate seat on the line!
Join Mobilizing DC 4 the US to travel to NC to team up with ‘Labor Votes’ and canvass in Roanoke Rapids in Eastern NC – an area that has a lot of DC expats. Volunteers will be knocking doors and having conversations about wages, healthcare, and the future or work. with pro-labor households.
